Your Location Data Stays in Your Browser

SunCalc does not collect, store, or transmit any of the location data you enter into our calculators. Latitude, longitude, city names, and dates are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers or any third party.

If you use your browser's geolocation feature to auto-fill your coordinates, that location data is handled by your browser and provided directly to the calculator JavaScript running on your device — it is not sent to our servers.

Information We Collect

SunCalc uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to collect anonymous usage data. This includes:

• Pages visited and time spent on each page
• General geographic location (country/region level only, derived from anonymized IP — never precise coordinates)
• Device type, browser, and operating system
• Referring websites and search terms
• Custom events such as which calculator was used (tool name only, never location inputs)

We do not collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name, email address, or precise location through our analytics.

How We Use This Information

Analytics data is used solely to understand which calculators are most useful, identify technical issues, and improve the site. We do not sell, rent, or share analytics data with third parties beyond what is required to operate Google Analytics.

Cookies

Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (_ga, _gid, _ga_*) to distinguish users and sessions. These cookies do not contain personally identifiable information. Cookie data is retained for 26 months by default.
